"Conrad Hetzer at the Mystic Sea was more fortunate. His hotel won the business image award of the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce for having been grandly upgraded in appearance but not torn down for a high-rise. A victory for nostalgia, we surmise, unmatched in most other oceanfront instances.
Hetzer tried in his own way to hold on to a little bit of what Myrtle Beach used to be. So much history has been lost to growth that a tear here and there would not be wasted, nor would a smile about what is yet to come in our evolving market."
